NAEC Spring 2026: Technical Insights and Industry Connections in Long Beach

The NAEC Spring Conference is always a barometer for the elevator industry’s current priorities. This year in Long Beach, the message from attendees was clear: compliance, modernization, and technical reliability are top of mind. For the Hyperion Solutions team, the week was an opportunity to act as a technical ally, sharing field-earned knowledge and supporting the organizations that move our industry forward.

Deep Dive: Primary and Secondary Braking Systems

Our technical session, "Primary & Secondary Elevator Brakes: Function, Code Requirements, and Modern Retrofit Solutions," led by Pete McIntosh and Carlos Escobar, drew a crowd of contractors, inspectors, and engineers.

Pete and Carlos focused on the mechanics of ASME A17.1 requirements. The discussion centered on the design limitations of legacy equipment and the practical paths for bringing existing installations into compliance through retrofit braking solutions and unintended movement protection.

This engagement highlights the immediate pressure contractors in that region feel regarding upcoming safety mandates and the need for reliable, code-aligned hardware like the Titan Dual Plunger Retrofit Brake Kit.

Supporting the Industry Beyond the Machine Room

While the technical sessions provided the "how-to," our participation in the broader conference events focused on the "who."

  • Industry Leadership: Morgan Jones represented Hyperion at the Women in Motion session and joined the Committee Chairs Luncheon alongside NAEC President Amy DiPaolo. These conversations are vital for the continued growth and modernization of industry standards.

  • On the Course: Our team joined our partners on the green for the 2026 Official Spring Golf Tournament. Hyperion was proud to serve as a hole sponsor and the official conference key card sponsor, supporting the NAEC’s mission to bring the community together.

Looking Ahead: Before, During, and After

Whether we connected during the Q&A of our technical session or at a sponsored tee, the takeaway remains the same: the industry is built on reputation and performance.
